Welcome to Square Roots North End Halifax
Square Roots North End is a little veggie sale that takes place in the North End of Halifax, Nova Scotia once a month.
Our goal of this volunteer-run community initiative is to reduce food waste and while providing affordable produce for everyone in our community. Each month, we work with local farmers to purchase seconds produce, such as carrots that are too big or onions that are too small, and resell it to the community for just $1/lbs.

how it works
Each month, members of the community come out to our little veggie sale to shop fresh, affordable produce. You can select the items you’d like and weight it at the end. We work with local farmers and grant partners to ensure we have a variety of produce and all items are just $1/lbs. Produce is first come, first serve. We accept cash, debit and credit.
Square Roots North End is one of more than 10 locations across Nova Scotia, founded by Enactus Saint Marys University.
our produce
Each month, we work to have a minimum of 10 different produce options, all available for $1/lbs.
In the past two years, we’ve had apples, oranges, cucumbers, tomatoes, buttercup squash, corn, sweet potatoes, green peppers, yellow peppers, beets, red cabbage, green cabbage, carrots, sweet potatoes, parsnips, bok choy, turnip, broccoli, cauliflower and more.
